Cosy up, slow down: get your interior ready for autumn

The days are getting shorter, the evenings longer, and life is gradually moving back indoors. Time to get your interior ready for autumn. Think warm colours, soft materials and atmospheric lighting. Cosy up, slow down: this season is all about creating an interior that makes you want to linger a little longer.

Start with a rug as a cosy foundation

Want to make your living room feel warmer and cosier in an instant? Start with the floor. A large rug brings the seating area together and immediately adds softness, warmth and texture. Exactly what your interior needs in autumn.

Opt for natural materials and warm tones, such as the Milio or Weavly rug. Prefer a calmer base? The sand-coloured Veya rug works beautifully with any interior style.

Layer upon layer

Autumn is the perfect season to embrace textiles. Gather different cushions on the sofa and casually drape a throw over the armrest. The Luvo cushions in pink and sand have been carefully colour-coordinated to create a complete cushion set. No need to spend ages mixing and matching: you can create a calm, cohesive look in one go. Add a Suna throw for extra warmth and texture.

Alongside soft natural tones, richer colours are also making an appearance this autumn. Think honey yellow, dusty pink, burgundy and purple. Perfect for giving a neutral interior an autumnal feel with just a few small changes.

Sink in and unwind

Autumn invites us to slow down and spend more time indoors. Create a cosy corner where you can retreat with a book and a cup of coffee. A comfortable armchair, atmospheric lighting and a soft throw are all you need to turn any corner into a relaxing spot.

Soft, rounded shapes enhance that laid-back feeling. Think of the softly upholstered Loom armchair or the generously sized Umina armchair. And don't make it too perfect: an interior should look like it's genuinely lived in.

Warm colours with a twist

An autumn interior doesn't have to be all brown and orange. Try combining chocolate brown with dusty pink, sand with honey yellow, or add a touch of burgundy. These colours instantly bring warmth to your interior.

Accessories are an easy way to introduce these shades too. Coloured glass and ceramics, such as the brown Arles vase or the brown-red Decennia XL vase, add warmth and character without having to change the entire room.

Switch off the main light

Atmospheric lighting is essential on dark autumn evenings. Instead of relying on one bright ceiling light, opt for several smaller light sources. A table lamp on a cabinet, a lamp beside the sofa and soft lighting above the dining table will instantly make the room feel warmer and more intimate. The natural Loft pendant light adds extra texture, while the light green Mero table lamp brings a playful pop of colour.

Complete the autumn atmosphere with a few statement candle holders. Light some candles and place them in eye-catching holders such as the Bexi candle holders. The soft candlelight instantly adds that extra warm and cosy feeling.

Cosy up, slow down

Getting your interior autumn-ready doesn't have to mean a complete makeover. Add warmth layer by layer with a rug, soft cushions, a throw, warm home accessories and atmospheric lighting.

Mix different materials, don't be afraid to add colour and, above all, choose comfort. Because as the temperature drops outside, your home should feel even cosier inside.
